Where can we learn more about BoostYourCampaign?
I’m Thomas Landers, founder at BoostYourCampaign. Before starting BoostYourCampaign way back 2010, I was working with medium to large businesses on their brand and marketing strategy for one of the US biggest marketing agencies.
I started BoostYourCampaign to help people raise money for their new project or business, or help them test their idea on the market before they go all-in on mass production. At that time, we’d create our own landing pages and drive people to it, asking them to make a ‘donation’ or pledge. Crowdfunding as we know it now, was still in its early stages. The experience we have of driving people to a landing page without history (vs. Kickstarter or Indiegogo) still pays off today.
We actually care about the campaigns we work with. Instead of trying to sell as many services as possible, we focus on delivering the best possible result for each of our clients.
Our years of extensive experience and teamwork enables us to provide excellent services that help drive more traffic and pledges to our clients’ campaigns.
We offer full-service marketing solutions for crowdfunding campaigns. Our commission-based ad campaigns are made with a personal approach yet have an international reach thanks to our US and EU teams. This approach results in a high success rate in all possible niches.
Instead of charging for ads upfront and hiding the campaign results from you, we opt to run ads directly from your Facebook page or offer percentage-based approach where we pay for your ads upfront and take a small cut at the end of the campaign.
We cover all aspects of crowdfunding marketing such as:
Landing Page Design
Return Backer Database
Kickstarter/Indiegogo Page Design
As for e-commerce, our main expertise lies in growth hacking and conversion optimization. We mainly cater to small- and medium-sized businesses. In addition, our Lisbon office will soon offer chatbot, referral campaign, and native app services.
We also provide e-commerce services for crowdfunding campaigns we’ve previously worked with should they choose to go that route.
We welcome everyone who has a good idea, is looking to raise funds on crowdfunding or equity platforms, or is running a business and looking to increase their online revenue.
While it’s easy to pick out the campaign with the biggest amount raised, every single campaign is a new opportunity for us to find new audiences and build high-converting campaigns. From $5000 to $3,000,000 campaigns, we truly enjoy working on all of them.
While it’s possible to get a campaign funded without running a pre-launch campaign, it will always come at a cost. Pre-launch marketing is crucial to any crowdfunding campaign that is aiming to raise more than $20,000.
We do. In fact, a big part of our work usually takes place in the pre-launch page of the campaign.
We create landing pages, run ads, and build an email list. Afterward, we nurture people who signed up for the list using personalized emails. Press release outreach and referral campaigns are also included in our pre-marketing strategy.
We run Facebook ads, Instagram ads, and Google Adwords. We also take things a step further by including full growth hacking strategies such as audience scrapes, finding and matching audiences, chatbots, and funnels.
Facebook/Instagram ads are suited for campaigns that are under 150-200% of their goal. Google Adwords can be used as an additional tool after that.
However, there are some exceptions to this. For example, campaigns wherein products will be delivered already during the campaign such as on Indiegogo or InDemand platforms.
We help them with influencer marketing. This strategy has continuously grown over the last few years. However, only a few crowdfunding marketing agencies actually offer this as a service.
Sure, it’s time consuming and requires a very personalized approach to make it work. But it does pay off—even more so than traditional PR or Facebook ad campaigns.
People trust a recommendation more than a commercial post.
Influencer outreach, press releases, and Facebook ads. We have a massive return backer database as well as pixel audience gathered from e-commerce and crowdfunding campaigns we have been working with. These resources allow us to run highly converting newsletters and targeted ad campaigns.
Challenges don’t stop when the crowdfunding campaign is over. In fact, the business has just begun. At this point, we provide various solutions such as go-to-market strategies and conversion optimization.
We manage an ad budget of over $15,000,000 per year for both our crowdfunding as well as our e-commerce customers.
Since press release writing and individual outreach are a part of all our packages, our customers have been featured in all major outlets, as well as niche-specific blogs and magazines.
Yes, we use sponsored posts and articles. But these are always targeted and niche-specific.
As for emails, we avoid buying email lists. Fortunately, we have built out a massive email list ourselves since we started back in 2010. At the same time, we use the latest growth hacking strategies to scrape, match, and build out new email lists for the campaigns we work with.
Work on your pre-launch campaign.
Too many people expect visibility and pledges coming in from the platform, be it Kickstarter or Indiegogo. With hundreds of campaigns launching every day, the actual visibility in the first days will be very, very low. That’s why it’s crucial to never skip the pre-launch.
Without proper planning and marketing, your Kickstarter or Indiegogo campaign is likely to fail. While it’s understandable that you are excited, take the time to build out an email list and contact press release publishers as well as influencers before you go live so they can plan in the publication from their side as well.
The actual approach is the same. Although, there are some small nuances mainly in terms of the audience that traditionally pledge on the platforms.
While most of our revenue comes from crowdfunding and e-commerce projects, we also have several lifestyle and fashion brands as our repeat customers. Moreover, an increasing number of gadget and tech startups are working with us for their marketing strategies.
Because of our success with ad campaigns, we are looking to add five new members to our paid ads team.
In terms of the number of projects and reach, we are one of the top 5 agencies in the US and number 1 in Europe. All of our team members have extensive experience running not only crowdfunding campaigns, but also with established (and leading) brands and startups.
We recently opened our studio, allowing us to produce crowdfunding videos and quality product photos in-house. Our company is also in the process of opening offices in Lisbon and Portugal. By Q2 of 2020, we are aiming to open up a branch in Singapore.
